U19CWC 2020: India beats Afghanistan by 211 runs in first warm-up game

India will play second and final U19 CWC warm-up match against Zimbabwe on Tuesday.

With the 13th edition of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020 just around the corner, India’s preparations are going on the full swing, as they are now set to give the final touch to their game in the World Cup warm-up matches ahead of the tournament in South Africa.

India U19 side looks extremely dangerous as they first finished as an unbeaten side in the Quadrangular Series and they are now dominating the warm-up games as well, as they are applying the final touches on their game plans and squads ahead of the U-19 World Cup 2020.

On Sunday, January 12, India hammered Afghanistan Under-19s by 211 runs in the first of their two warm-up matches – second against Zimbabwe on January 14, to sent warning to other teams ahead of the U-19 World Cup 2020 in South Africa.

Batting first, India managed to post a competitive total of 255 for 8 in 50 overs against Afghanistan on the back of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant 69 off 97 balls and NT Tilak Verma’s 55 on Sunday.

Defending the total, Indian bowlers showed their brilliance with the ball, as they shot down Afghanistan for just 44 in 17.5 overs thanks to Kartik Tyagi three-wicket haul (3/10) with Akash Singh, Shubhang Hegde, and Sushant Mishra getting a couple of wickets each.

Noteworthy, the 16-team tournament starting from January 17 in South Africa will be played across 24 days with the final scheduled to take place on February 9 in Potchefstroom.

While, the defending champions India will kick start their title defense against Sri Lanka U19 in the 7th Match of the tournament on January 19 at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein.
