Ottis Gibson in talks with Bangladesh Cricket Board for bowling coach role

Ottis Gibson interested in taking the role of Bangladesh’s bowling coach.

Former West Indian fast bowler Ottis Gibson on Monday (January 6) admitted that he is in talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the vacant role of the team's pace bowling coach.

The place of Bangladesh team’s bowling coach is currently vacant after the BCB decided to release former South African cricketer Charl Langeveldt to join national set-up as per Cricket South Africa's request.

Gibson, former England bowling coach, and former South African head coach is currently working as the head coach of Cumilla Warriors in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.

He is working closely with Bangladesh’s chief selector Minhajul Abedin, board director Naimur Rahman and a few other BCB coaches and is a top contender to fill the vacant post at the side but the deal is far from being finalized at present.

Gibson told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday, “I won't deny that there is a discussion going on of course. But you know there is still a long way from agreeing on anything. We will see of course I love cricket and I love being a bowling coach so if there is an opportunity to come and help young fast bowlers then I will look at that opportunity.”

He signed off by saying, “There are a lot of young bowlers that I have seen and there is a lot of potentials here especially with the fast bowlers.”
