India hasn't won a world tournament despite great resources at disposal since 2013.
Virat Kohli has experienced failure on the biggest of stages in two marquee world event knock-out games in the early part of his India captaincy career. On both the occasions, he also didn't perform like the great all-conquering batsman we've to come to know of all these years.
But while the pain of going down unforeseen in a Champions Trophy final to Pakistan and suffering defeat at the hands of New Zealand in a World Cup semi-final runs deep, the skipper says focus has been on the process towards creating a winning culture and overcoming the disappointments.

"So, I would say, you could look at winning an ICC tournament like an obsession or like a wish that people have. It is a beautiful thing to wish for because it is seen at a global level and every cricketer would want to win that," Kohli told India Today.
In the World Cup in UK this year, India dominated the league phase but didn't come to the party when it mattered the most facing the Kiwis. And this has been a disappointing theme since 2013 when under MS Dhoni's leadership, the country last saw its men lift a major world title at the Champions Trophy.
"We obviously have the desire to win big tournaments and we want to give our best effort possible but if you focus on things which are only based on success then you cannot enjoy the process and we as a team, we play so well because we enjoy the process."
"But, if you ask me honestly, I mean I didn't ever think that I would be part of the winning World Cup team in my first World Cup or two years down the line we will the Champions Trophy as well. So, I never thought of these things but it happened," Kohli added.
