ICC T20 WCQ 2019: Ireland ease past Hong Kong; Netherlands make short work of Kenya

The Final of the T20 WCQ 2019 will be played on November 2nd.

On October 18, 2019, two of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers Match 2 and Match 3 were played in Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively.

Ireland v Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi

Hong Kong won the toss and chose to bat first. Kinchit Shah top-scored with 79 off 54 balls as the team made 153/5 in 20 overs. In reply, Paul Stirling made 62 in 36 balls and though Kevin O’Brien fell for a duck via run out, Andy Balbirnie smashed 70* in 53 balls to take Ireland to victory in 17.2 overs ending up making 155/2. Paul Stirling was named Man of the Match.

HK 153/5 (K SHAH 79; M ADAIR 2/22) lost to IRE 155/2 (A BALBIRNIE 70*, P STIRLING 62) by 8 wickets


Netherlands v Kenya, Dubai

The Netherlands batted first after winning the toss and made 166/4 in 20 overs. Max O’Dowd made 53, while Ben Cooper made 36 in support. For Kenya, Collins Obuya picked 2/16. Kenya in reply could only muster 136/8 with Obuya top-scoring with 63 and Rakep Patel making 26 and Paul van Meerkeren picked 3/27 for the Netherlands. The Netherlands won the match by 30 runs and Max O’Dowd was named Man of the Match.

NED 166/4 (M O’DOWD 53, C OBUYA 2/16) defeated KEN 136/8 (C OBUYA 63, P VAN MEERKEREN 3/27) by 30 runs
