Part of the inaugural World Test Championship cycle, Australia's two-match Test series in Bangladesh has been postponed from next February to a new June-July slot in the 2020 cricket calendar, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Monday (September 23).
It is learnt that the BCB and Cricket Australia (CA) both mutually agreed on the postponement of the series.
"According to the FTP, we were supposed to host two Tests in February but now the Test series will be played in June-July 2020," BCB cricket operations chairman Akram Khan told reporters.
Also planned for October this year, Australia's visit for a T20I series to the country has been postponed and will now take place in 2021 ahead of the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup to be held in India.
"Initially we were expecting to host Australia for a two-match Twenty20 International series in October but now they have agreed to play three T20 internationals and it will be played ahead of the World T20 in India, though we are yet to finalise the date," Akram confirmed.
Bangladesh will kickstart its campaign in the Test championship with a two-match series in India this November.
