India cricketer Dinesh Karthik has offered an "unconditional apology" for violating BCCI clause as he watched a Caribbean Premier League game from inside the dressing room of Trinbago Knight Riders, a team co-owned by Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.

Karthik, the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper in the IPL, was issued a show-cause notice by the board after being observed in attendance at a CPL 2019 game wearing a Trinbago Jersey.

The BCCI asked why his central contract shouldn't be cancelled but Karthik in response informed through a four-point submission that he went to Port of Spain on coach Brendon McCullum’s request and watched the match wearing the TKR jersey on the former New Zealander captain's request as well.

"I wish to tender unconditional apology for not seeking permission from BCCI prior to embarking on this visit," Karthik wrote in his apology letter, as per a report in PTI this Sunday (September 8).

"I wish to reiterate that I have neither participated in any TKR related activities nor played any role whatsoever for TKR."

The supreme court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) is now likely to close the matter since Karthik has tendered an unconditional apology, especially with him also giving assurance that he "will not be seated in the TKR dressing room for the remaining matches" prior to his departure from Trinidad.
