Shimron Hetmyer's 47-ball 70* enabled Guyana Amazon Warriors an eight-wicket win over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Saturday (September 7) at the Providence Stadium in Match 4 of the Caribbean Premier League 2019.

Hetmyer's special performance was glint with seven fours and three sixes as he played a major role in helping Warriors chase down the target of 154 only two wickets down. He was deservingly awarded "Player-of-the-Match".

The young West Indies star was ably supported at the task by openers Brandon King (27), Chandrapaul Hemraj (39) and veteran overseas recruit and skipper Shoaib Malik (23*).

The Guyanese batsmen ran away with the game to leave opposition bowlers Sheldon Cottrell (1/35), Carlos Brathwaite (1/28), Alzarri Joseph (0/23) and Rayad Emrit (0/27) with a herculean task of controlling the run flow which they failed at.

Earlier, mainstay Devon Thomas played a fine knock of 62 in 49 balls to help St Kitts and Nevis Patriots post a fighting total of 153/8 in 20 overs with some support from Fabian Allen, who made 33 off 19 balls, while the rest of the batting unit struggled.

Chris Green (1/18), Shadab Khan (2/20) and Romario Shepherd (1/26) delivered fine spells for Guyana Amazon Warriors, and even made up for lacklustre performances on the night from Keemo Paul (1/44) and Ben Laughlin (2/43).

Brief scores:

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 153/8 in 20 overs (Devon Thomas 62; Shadab Khan 2/20) lost to Guyana Amazon Warriors 159/2 in 18.5 overs (Shimron Hetmyer 70*; Sheldon Cottrell 1/35) by eight wickets.
