Shivamogga Lions and Bellary Tuskers faced each other in the 15th match of Karnataka Premier League (KPL) 2019 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Friday (August 23).

Opting to bat first, Tuskers rode on Krishnappa Gowtham’s jaw-dropping 134 not out off 56 balls (7 fours and 13 sixes) to pile up a mammoth 203/3 on the board in a rain-marred 17-over per side affair.

In the chase, majority of the Shivamogga batsmen looked out of sorts. The openers Arjun Hoysala and Nihal Ullal got out for 1 and 4 respectively.

Akshay Ballal (41) and Pavan Deshpande (45) added 96 runs for the third wicket to bail the team out of trouble, but rest of the batting line-up fell like a pack of cards as Gowtham wreaked havoc with the ball as well.

Gowtham finished with the astonishing figures of 8 for 15 in his 4 overs – the best ever bowling performance in the history T20 cricket. The formality was completed when CA Karthik dismissed Prithviraj Shekawat in the third delivery of the 17th over to bundle out Lions for 133.

Brief Scores:

Bellary Tuskers – 203/3 in 17 overs (Krishnappa Gowtham 134*) defeated Shivamogga Lions – 133/10 in 16.5 overs (Krishnappa Gowtham 8/15) by 70 runs
