Sanjay Bangar is set to be replaced by former opener Vikram Rathour as Team India batting coach, while Bharath Arun and R Sridhar retained their posts as bowling and fielding coaches respectively.

BCCI’s senior selection committee led by MSK Prasad has shortlisted three candidates each for all the support staff positions. The names were shortlisted on the order of priority and thus the first name in each category will be appointed after the formalities with regards to Conflict of Interest declaration gets done.

“Vikram Rathour has got enough experience and we are convinced with his skill sets (as a coach). We will ask him to declare if he has any conflict,” BCCI CEO Rahul Johri told reporters on Thursday (August 22).

According to the recommendations made by selection panel, current incumbent Sanjay Bangar came second while former England batsman Mark Ramprakash was placed at the third position.

“The team management had their own views but looking ahead, we felt there should be some freshness in the support staff,” Johri said.

For the role of Physiotherapist Nitin Patel, who was part of the support staff during the 2011 World Cup, has been called back while England’s Luke Woodhouse has been appointed as the strength and conditioning (trainer) coach.

Incumbent administrative manager Sunil Subramaniam, who recently grabbed the headlines for his alleged misbehaviour with top diplomats of the Indian government during the ongoing tour of West Indies, has been replaced by Girish Dongre.

Last week, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) consisting of Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy had re-appointed Ravi Shastri as the head coach of Team India for the next two years.
