Joe Root back in top five of ICC Test rankings for batsmen

Holder remains the No.1 Test all-rounder.

With a stunning knock of 122 in the in St. Lucia Test, Joe Root has improved his Test status, as England Test skipper has returned back to the top five in the latest ICC Test rankings for batsmen.

On Wednesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its Test rankings and Root found himself in the top five batsmen across the globe in the longest format of the game, thanks to his match-winning knock of 122 in the second inning of the third and final Test against the West Indies.

Following his Test ton, Root has moved three places to number five in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Test Rankings for batsmen led by Indian skipper Virat Kohli with 922 points.

The right-hander struck 122 off 225 balls to help England to declare their second innings at 361/5, later, the visitors went on to dismiss Windies at 252 runs in their second innings to win the final Test by 232 runs at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium on 12 February.

Meanwhile, West Indies skipper Jason Holder remains at number 36, while Roston Chase, who made a fighting century, climbed 10 places to be number 41.

While Holder remains the No.1 Test all-rounder, Roston took the 13th place among all-rounders in the latest rankings. Ben Stokes, who took two wickets in the Saint Lucia Test, made a small improvement moved to number four on the rankings for all-rounders.
