Rishabh Pant scored 159* in the fourth Test at SCG.
Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant finally responded to his critics in style with a matured innings of 159* at the SCG against Australia in the fourth Test of the ongoing series.
Pant came into bat at the fall of Vihari’s wicket and added 89 runs with Pujara, who made 193 runs. Pant was then joined by Ravindra Jadeja (81) and the duo added 204 runs, propelling the Indian total to 662/7 when Virat Kohli declared the innings at the fall of Jadeja’s wicket.
Rishabh Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test century in Australia, also made the highest Test score by an Indian wicketkeeper outside India, beating MS Dhoni’s 148 against Pakistan in Faisalabad. Pant also became the first Indian keeper to score a century outside Asia and second youngest to score a century in Australia after Sachin Tendulkar.
Incidentally, today is also Rishabh Pant’s mother, Saroj’s birthday and Rishabh dedicated his highest Test score to his mother in a Twitter post.
Pant wrote, “Happy birthday mom ????????????. You are the person who is always behind me no matter what . I love you so much . I still remember the time when you used to travel with me for my practices and matches . Thanku for taking all the stress of mine and making it yours can't even express my feelings in words . Love you and happy birthday once again”
