Former skipper Mark Taylor has resigned from his position as Cricket Australia(CA) Director, in order to give the organisation a clean slate to repair the huge damage caused by the infamous ball-tampering scandal and the ethical review that has followed on the governing body.

Taylor joins ex-CEO James Sutherland and former chairman David Peever, among the administrative leaders to have quit their roles with CA.

Having served 13 years on the board, Taylor tilll last week was considered as a likely successor to Peever, with the sporting governance in urgent need for positive, forward decision-making personnel, down under & worldwide.

"Given my media role, I don't believe being chairman would be appropriate," Taylor, who considered putting his name to be breaching conflict of interest rules, had told Channel Nine, after recently signing a new contract with the broadcaster which has the rights to the World Cup and Ashes series in 2019.

And now deciding to split from CA altogether, Taylor got quoted saying, "I reached this decision following a high degree of soul-searching and, importantly, having the game's best interests clearly in mind, But now is the right time to step back and allow Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers' Association to work from a fresh page."

"My decision also removes the conflicts that have lately emerged with me striving to achieve a better working relationship between CA and the ACA whilst having to address my ongoing role of reporting on cricket for the Nine Network," he signed off.
