Smith will play for Sutherland while Warner will represent Randwick-Petersham as Sydney Grade Cricket seasons begins.
Former captain and vice-captain Steve Smith and David Warner will be making a return to grade cricket after a while and will be providing invaluable mentorship with their presence to the young and upcoming Australian cricketers at that level.
Having been banned from Cricket Australia organised events for another year, both the batsmen are looking to gain as much cricket under their belt as possible, before they make a comeback next year.
The duo firstly played in the Global T20 Canda League in July before featuring in the Caribbean Premier League and now, will be playing for their respective clubs in the historic Sydney Grade Cricket.
While Smith will play for Sutherland alongside former all-rounder Shane Watson, Warner will represent Randwick-Petersham for whom fast bowler Josh Hazlewood also features.
Smith, in a video published by Australian Cricketers' Association, talked about the occasion and said, "Hopefully I can teach some of the young guys the game, help them learn, If I can pass on any information to these young guys coming through and help them turn into better players, I'll do that."
"We want to see Australian cricket strong and it starts at this level. The more older heads there are around to come and help out, the better," he added.
Along the same lines, Warner also expressed his delight and excitement on the chance to work with "some of the younger guys and older guys in the team" and feels it's a wonderful opportunity to give back to the game.
