Bhogle's tweet forced the website to delete their tweet.
An online news portal named Catch News received severe backlash on Twitter after their controversial reporting of ongoing Asian Games 2018.
Dipika Pallikal, the Indian squash player won a bronze in her event and made her country proud. Instead of writing her name they used Dinesh Karthik's reference even though Dipika is a known name in the world of sports without Karthik's reference. "Dinesh Karthik's wife Dipika Pallikal settles for bronze in women's singles squash," read their headline on news article which they posted on August 25.
The official Twitter account of the news website received a lot of criticism. Even cricket expert Harsha Bhogle blasted the website for its headline and wrote, "A tweet I so wish I hadn't seen. I wonder if the women who work here carry visiting cards saying "wife of......". Go on ladies (and guys you too), show that you are offended, get the tweet deleted. And then an apology to Dipika, maybe? A bit of grace after this lack of respect?"
