Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal thanked former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu for visiting Pakistan to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of his country.

Sidhu took a bold decision to be present on the day when former Pakistan skipper started his new innings in politics, as other two Indian greats Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar refused to attend the ceremony in Islamabad on 18 August.

Praising him for his gesture, Akmal believes that Sidhu's presence in Pakistan sends a clear & loud message of peace and love in the future relations between the two neighbouring countries.

On Sunday (19 August), Akmal wrote on his official Twitter along with Sidhu’s picture, “thank you very much for coming to Pakistan @sherryontopp your arrival to Pakistan made a clear & loud message of peace & love hope this will keep continued..in shaa Allah”

Meanwhile, Sidhu believes that cricket can bring Pakistan and India together, as well as, called the trip a "new beginning" of a good relations between the two rival nations. Samma TV reported he added, “I hope I have laid the foundations and someone will work on it.”

Noteworthy, he was criticized by the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for hugging Pakistan's Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, while Indian Media is also not happy with Sidhu’s this move and lambasted him for attending the ceremony in Pakistan.
