Hardik Pandya is coming under fire from all quarters for not justifying his all-rounder tag in the Test matches against England so far. England has a lead of 2-0 over India by the virtue of wins in Birmingham and Lord’s.

Hardik Pandya has played both games and has scores of 22, 31, 11 and 26 in the four innings of two Tests so far. He also took three wickets, which came at Lord’s. Much was expected from Pandya given that he had a very good start to his Test career with 2 fifties and a century against Sri Lanka and then a breathtaking 93 against South Africa in their own backyard.

But since then, his bat has been silent and his bowling skills have been below par. He was played as the third seamer at Lord’s under bowler-friendly conditions and much more expected of him. Many experts and fans have touted him as the next Kapil Dev, the greatest all-rounder ever produced by India.

However, West Indies great Michael Holding thinks that Hardik Pandya is nowhere near to being a Test all-rounder, let alone the next Kapil Dev. He said, “Kapil Dev not ready yet for all-rounder spot.

This post was liked by a certain member of the Indian team contingent, namely R Sridhar, the fielding coach of the team. This could be demoralizing for the young all-rounder who has been giving his all for the team, despite his shortcomings.
