Pakistan won’t host day-night Tests in UAE this year

Pakistan have already hosted two day-night Tests previously at Dubai.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly decided not to stage any day-night Tests in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this year.

Pakistan are scheduled to play Australia and New Zealand at their adopted home in September and October. As per a report in Express Tribune, none of the Test matches against the two sides will be played with the pink-ball.

The report also claims that the decision was made after the Pakistan team management expressed their reservations against the day-night Tests. They feel that the late dew affects spinners in UAE.

It is learnt that the PCB has accepted the reasoning and as a result, none of the five slated Tests against Australia and New Zealand will be held under lights.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan have already hosted two day-night Tests at Dubai. While they have played West Indies in October 2016, they squared off against Sri Lanka in their second outing under lights last year.

Although the full schedule of Pakistan’s matches against Australia and New Zealand hasn’t been released yet, it is confirmed that the Sarfaraz Ahmed led side will host Australia for two Tests and three T20Is before taking on New Zealand in three Tests, three T20Is and as many ODIs.
