Hima Das made the country proud recently after becoming women’s 400-metre race U-20 Champion.
Hima Das made the country proud on Thursday, July 12 when she became the first athlete from India to win a gold medal in the track event. The 18-year-old achieved this feat by winning women’s 400-meter race at the IAAF World U-20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.
But, then something really ridiculous happened. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) posted a tweeted of Hima speaking her delight in a video has received the great honor with a caption that left a bad taste in the mouth.
The caption read, "#HimaDas speaking to media after her SF win at #iaaftampere2018 @iaaforg Not so fluent in English but she gave her best there too. So proud of u #HimaDas Keep rocking & yeah, try ur best in final! @ioaindia @IndianOlympians @TejaswinShankar @PTI_News @StarSportsIndia @hotstartweets"

The tweet was widely criticised all over the social media network in the reply section filled with angry tweets that expressed how the federation left a lot to be desired.
One such tweet got in the notice of Indian Cricketer Harbhajan Singh, who quote tweeted one such fan of Hima and wrote, "100 percent right.. we have lots of pade likhe ANPAD who always looks for the faults rather than someone’s efforts and achievements...English is not our first language so chill guys and grow up"

Harbhajan took an admirable stand against the wrong here. The sportspersons are not there to speak in a certain language, they are there to play the sport they are better than the rest at.
