Abdul Qadir has taken 368 international wickets for Pakistan.
While Pakistan is busy playing in Zimbabwe in a T20I tri-series involving Zimbabwe and Australia, Abdul Qadir, former Pakistan spin legend has urged PCB to start preparing for the 2019 World Cup in England next year.
Talking to APP, Qadir, who was also former PCB chief selector, said 2019 World Cup is scheduled to take place in England and Wales and we must prepare our players according to the pitches there.
“The Tri-Nation series between Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Australia won’t benefit Pakistan as Zimbabwe is a low ranked team whereas Australia has played a young team in the series which is inexperienced as compared to Pakistan,” he said.
He has also urged PCB to prepare a backup team for replacements as well. “If in case any of our players from the national team gets injured or hurt, then his replacement will be present in the A team,” he said and added PCB must also hunt for talent from all over the country and groom them for future.
Pakistan's only World Cup triumph came under Iram Khan who inspired a change in Pakistan cricket after their 1992 triumph. This Pakistan team under Sarfraz Ahmed shocked the cricketing world by winning the Champions Trophy 2017 out of nowhere.
They certainly seem to have the promise and potential to shock the world yet again this time around as well.
