West Indian great Sir Viv Richards, who is one of the greatest players to have graced the game of cricket ever, is always straightforward about his views over the modern era’s players whether be it picking his favorite player or criticizing his national cricket board.

Richards attended the Hurricane Relief T20 fund-raiser match between the ICC World XI and the West Indies on Thursday (31 May) at Lord’s, where he was all in praise for Indian captain Virat Kohli while talking with the commentators during the game.

The dashing right-hander is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of the modern era for his finest style of hitting shots and consistency, as well as, his captaincy record is also quite noticeable.

He is often applauded for his brilliant antics on the field from the legends and cricket pundits across the globe and Richards is one of the biggest fans of the Indian captain.

At Lord’s, the Windies great was asked by reporters to pick a player who excites him the most from the modern era and his response was not really surprising, as he is none other than Kohli. He said, “I love watching Virat Kohli.”

It was not the first time when Richards lauds the 29-years-old, as recently the legend expressed his confidence that Kohli will do well in England and his previous outing would not affect him.

He had said, “I’ll back him to improve on that, coming out of there [with an average] in the fifties or high forties. He has improved tremendously as a batsman. I’ll put my money on him scoring. He hasn’t quite done it to the English as he has to other teams around the world. That should be a huge motivator.”

Meanwhile, the West Indians displayed a tremendous performance against the World XI and won the game by 72 runs at Lord’s on Thursday.
