I love playing with Royal Challengers Bangalore: AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers has been an integral part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) over the years, and shared a great bond with the players and fans here, saying he loves playing with the franchise in the T20 tournament.

Recently, one of the most celebrated cricketers of the game,  AB De Villiers, announced his retirement from all formats of the international cricket after playing 14-years for South Africa.

Across the globe, AB has the most legions of fans in India, because they had just been witness to some glittering batting display and superman catch on the boundary line from him in only IPL– that gives them more opportunities to celebrate the genius from close quarters.

In an interview with GQ India, the 34-year-old revealed many things about his personal life, his connection with RCB and how he makes his miffed wife Danielle de Villiers happy off the field.

Recalling his journey with the RCB, De Villiers said, “I absolutely love coming here ever since the first time I traveled to the country in 2002. But joining the RCB team — I’ve been with them for 8 years now — has definitely been a great experience. Lots of great friends, great people, they look after me so well. I love playing with Bangalore.”

On his personal front, the swashbuckling batsman most loves writing more than anything else, and even he loves the fans most who ask for an autograph instead of a selfie. Former South African skipper also revealed that he cleans up his mess by writing to make his wife Danielle happy.

De Villiers signed off by saying, “Everyone wants a selfie these days but there’ll be this one person who wants an autograph. I love it. It has such an old-school touch. I’ve got a wife who enjoys a letter. I love writing letters, especially when I do something wrong, she doesn’t want to see me so I need to write it down and leave it for her and make up for it. There’s no better touch than to write a letter.”
