Ashes 2017: ECB confirms of players security after Melbourne street incident

The Boxing Day Ashes Test to be played on December 26 in Melbourne.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that their all players and management are safe after the Flinders Street incident in Melbourne on Thursday.

This incident took place at a distance of 2 kilometers from the Melbourne Cricket Ground which is scheduled to host the Boxing Day Ashes Test from December 26.

The reports said that at least 15 people were injured in the accident when an SUV ploughed into a group of people around 4:45 pm local time at a busy crossroads of Flinders Street Station in Melbourne.

ECB wrote on their official Twitter handle, “Following the Flinders Street incident in Melbourne, all players and management have been accounted for and are safe.”

It is also learned that the Melbourne Police have arrested two people, including the driver of the SUV, and they are currently investigating the incident.
