Ravindra Jadeja made his India ODI comeback against West Indies recently.
Agarkar had a major influence on the Indian team’s decision to go for younger players rather than older ones in the T20Is. Agarkar believed that after the Indian team’s disastrous performance in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, they should focus on young players and come up with a new strategy that would make the team change its playing style from the old one.
However, his strategy faced a halt in the form of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja joining back the Indian side before the T20 World Cup 2024, which India won.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ajit Agarkar have never openly been in a standoff with each other. However, the all-rounder was not picked for the Indian ODI team for Sri Lanka in 2024 and Australia in 2025 under Agarkar’s tenure. However, the former chief selector had always argued that Jadeja was an integral part of the ODI set-up.
However, after Agarkar’s departure and BCCI posting an ad for a new selector for the Indian men’s team, Ravindra Jadeja made a rare social media appearance.
“BCCI invites applications for one position on the Men’s Selection Committee,” BCCI posted on X.
“What the procedure?” Jadeja asked in reply.
Ravindra Jadeja was recently seen in action for India in ODIs against West Indies, where he picked two wickets in two games.
