Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Priyansh Arya recent batted together in tri-series in Sri Lanka.
Priyansh is definitely one of those players who have made a significant mark in the Indian Premier League in the last couple of seasons and has scored runs for India A in matches against teams like Australia A in the previous year.
His strength lies in playing in the T20I format. Nevertheless, since Abhishek, Sooryavanshi, and Sanju Samson have cemented their places in the Indian team, even his PBKS mate Prabhsimran has yet to play for India.
However, Priyansh looks at this as healthy competition and aims to learn from the openers.
"It's quite chill between all of us because we only focus on performance. The better you perform, the higher you go in the pecking order. I've batted with Prabhsimran, Abhishek, and Vaibhav and have learned something from each of them.
I've played with all of them at one level or the other, and I always watch them while they're training. I try to incorporate some of their methods into my game so I can benefit from them. I like their batting style and intent,” Priyansh told the media ahead of India A's opening one-dayer against Australia A on Tuesday.
He added that he has enjoyed batting with teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He has batted with Sooryavanshi in the one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka, which also featured Afghanistan A.
"For instance, I enjoy playing with Vaibhav because he takes pressure off you by scoring big runs. When he bats, the opposition even starts bowling defensively. This makes batting easier for his partners as well. There's great joy in watching Vaibhav bat from the non-striker's end. I just tell him, 'If you're hitting well, just keep hitting,” he added.
Arya and Sooryavanshi had put up a stand of 75 runs against Afghanistan A and then made 132 runs together against Sri Lanka A in the tri-series final.
However, Priyansh Arya named Prabhsimran Singh as his favorite batting partner.
"I have the best bond with Prabh bhai. He has been playing in the IPL for the last seven or eight years and is a lot more experienced than me. He helps me with every little thing and tells me what each bowler's strengths are. That helps me prepare accordingly for them. If a left-arm spinner comes on in the powerplay, it's me who targets him; while if an off-spinner comes on, it's him. So we try to communicate with each other as best as possible and target different bowlers," he added.
