Pakistan are the defending champions of Hong Kong Sixes tournament.
Apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the other members of the Indian team are Krunal Pandya, Shashank Singh, Rahul Tewatia, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, and T. Natarajan. Apart from Shashank and Tewatia, all others have also played for India in international cricket.
In this team, there is an effective combination of international exposure, hard-hitting batsmen, all-rounder skills, and specialists in bowling for what is known as one of the most rapid and exciting formats of cricket. The Hong Kong Sixes has only six players in action.
Anuraag Bhatnagar, Director of Marketing and Commercial, Cricket Hong Kong, China, said, "We are very grateful to the Indian cricket authorities for their support in helping us put together arguably one of the strongest sides that has represented India in the history of the Sixes. This will surely prove to be a quantum leap forward in terms of viewership and further validation for this iconic tournament.”
India is scheduled to appear in the Hong Kong Sixes with the aim of advancing further into the competition after they started off their 2025 tourney by winning against Pakistan by just two runs via the DLS method and exited from the tournament after losing in subsequent matches.
Pakistan is set to defend their 2026 title, as they were successful in defeating Kuwait in last year's final match, securing the record sixth Hong Kong Sixes title.
The tournament is scheduled to have eight major nations along with four associate members playing three days of aggressive cricket at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground.
