Virat Kohli closes in on No. 1 rank in ICC ODI batting rankings; Kuldeep Yadav moves up in bowling rankings

Shubman Gill retained no.1 spot in ICC ODI batting rankings, while Rashid Khan remains no.1 bowler.

Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav were the biggest gainers in the recent update of the ICC ODI player rankings on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after the first ODI between India and the West Indies. The last week was very eventful in ODIs, as eight centuries were scored, with six coming on September 27 alone.

Virat Kohli was one of the centurions, as he achieved his 55th ODI ton in the first ODI against the West Indies and also completed 15,000 runs in the format. His 86th international ton helped him rise one spot to second, with his rating of 796 only bettered by teammate Shubman Gill (816), who bolstered his rating with a century (110) of his own in the same match.

Daryl Mitchell (794) is the only player denying an Indian top three, with Rohit Sharma sitting in fourth (719). Kusal Mendis’ ton helped him rise to career-best seventh spot (674 points) in ICC ODI batting rankings.

Coming to the ICC ODI bowling rankings, Kuldeep Yadav won the Player of the Match for his 4/40 in the Thiruvananthapuram ODI. This has resulted in Kuldeep making a four-spot move up to fifth (623).

Keshav Maharaj’s 6 wickets in two ODIs against Australia saw the South African spinner jump three spots to third (667).  He sits eight rating points behind Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed, who remains in the second spot, while Rashid Khan leads the ICC ODI rankings.
