The BCCI will also celebrate its 100 year anniversary in 2028.
The idea was discussed during the 95th Annual General Meeting of the CAB, which took place at Eden Gardens on Thursday.
Being one of the oldest and most successful state bodies, the CAB has guided the Bengal teams to win many national championships and has produced many international players, both male and female, for India.
“We will gradually get going with our preparation for the centenary year. We’ll also write to the BCCI so that the celebration goes on to be a special one, including a marquee game (at the Eden)," CAB president Sourav Ganguly, as quoted by The Telegraph.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will also celebrate its 100 years in 2028. It is said to be considering an India vs Rest of the World XI match as part of its centenary celebrations.
After the recent AGM in Mumbai on Friday, the BCCI revealed that its general body had started the process for marking the board’s 100th anniversary. The celebrations will take place through an ongoing program that will run from December 2027 to 2028.
The BCCI will form a committee to oversee the celebration. However, the plans are still in the initial stages, and there is no definite decision on the match or the entire program. India has never played an international match against an ICC World XI.
