Rizwan and Imam were among the seven players released from the Pakistan Test squad touring England.
Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have reportedly been interrogated at the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) office in Lahore over the alleged information leaks from the team's dressing room.
According to a report in Pakistan-based The News International, the agency is investigating how sensitive team data and strategic information leaked from the dressing room during Pakistan's ongoing Test tour of England.
Alongside the communication leaks, investigators from the NCCIA have widened the probe into the players' bank details, financial dealings, and transactional histories surrounding the matches to identify the sources of any unexplained funds.
The report also claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had confiscated the mobile phones of both players and handed them over to investigators. The devices are undergoing full forensic analysis to trace contacts, digital activities, and private messages.
Rizwan and Imam were among the seven players released from the Pakistan Test squad following the horrific show in the two Test matches against England. Those players were sent home, with the PCB drafting seven other players into the squad and later launching an "internal disciplinary inquiry".
As per the report, both cricketers have submitted preliminary written responses but have requested additional time from the agency to provide comprehensive explanations. The NCCIA is expected to question them further too.
Pakistan cricket seems to be in crisis again after their back-to-back defeats in England. The PCB didn’t only remove seven players, it also relieved Test head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul of their duties.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently addressed the turmoil, stating the board was left with no option other than to sack the players.
"Every match of a series is important for us, and we are not left with any option if a player is not performing but to look for his replacement. The purpose behind these changes is not to axe players from contention, but just to replace them. Consider (Salman) Agha, who is a very good player, but he could not click because of some reasons. He was spoken to about it," Naqvi had told Geo Network.
Meanwhile, the advisor to the PCB chairman, Amir Mir, shared the news about PCB launching an inquiry into the conduct.
"The Pakistan Cricket Board has initiated an internal disciplinary inquiry following media reports concerning discipline and conduct, which are currently being reviewed internally. The PCB handles such matters in accordance with its standard procedures. The process is being conducted under PCB regulations, ensuring that all concerned individuals are given due consideration," Mir wrote on social media a few days ago.
"At this stage, any speculative reports or unverified claims circulating on certain platforms, particularly those originating from hostile external sources, should not be regarded as credible. The PCB will not comment further at this time. The Board advises stakeholders and the public to rely on official PCB communications," he added.
