In one of the most unusual ways to post an advertisement for hiring, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a post on LinkedIn that they were looking for candidates to become the fielding coach of the Pakistan team in international cricket.

Less than a week has passed since PCB officially began looking for a new fielding coach in the wake of Shane McDermott's departure last month. After nearly a year with the Pakistan men's squad, McDermott resigned in July. In July 2025, he was appointed.

McDermott was supposed to be a member of the support team for the Asian Games in September, but he is currently in Australia. McDermott's resignation was apparently unexpected, and neither the PCB nor he disclosed the cause.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking an experienced and skilled Fielding Coach to join the Pakistan Men’s National Cricket Team. The Fielding Coach will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing the fielding skills of Pakistan National Team Players,” PCB shared on its official account on LinkedIn.

The PCB has established certain experience criteria for the fielding coach position. Candidates must have a Level II cricket coaching qualification and at least five years of experience in a similar job, including working with elite players, national teams, franchise sides, or foreign teams.

Additionally, PCB emphasized that the position will involve more than just fielding drills. A solid understanding of "game analysis and player development" will be required of candidates. In order to build contemporary fielding tactics, the advertisement also requests competence in monitoring and assessing systems and procedures now in use at the international level.

Applications via PCB's website must be submitted by September 9th.
