India was to play a white-ball series of six games in Bangladesh.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian government are reportedly still in talks to reschedule India’s tour of Bangladesh for a white-ball series in January of next year.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is looking for a window at the beginning of next year because the initial September schedule is still up in the air, according to a BCCI source.
"The India-Bangladesh series is likely to be held in January. Discussions with the government are still ongoing, while the BCB is now seeking a window at the beginning of next year," a BCCI source told ANI.
India's August 2025 tour of Bangladesh was originally planned; however, it was later postponed until September 2026. In January of this year, the BCB declared that India would play three Twenty20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals in Dhaka and Chattogram.
The BCCI hasn't yet released a formal statement about the tour, though.
Relations between the two cricket boards worsened after the BCB announced the tour in January and the Kolkata Knight Riders dropped Bangladeshi all-rounder Mustafizur Rahman from their Indian Premier League (IPL) team.
When the BCB, led by Aminul Islam, opted not to send Bangladesh to the T20 World Cup, which India was co-hosting, the issue worsened.
However, when Tamim Iqbal assumed leadership as BCB president, relations between the two boards have improved. Tamim reportedly visited the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru on his trip to India earlier this month, suggesting that ties between the two boards may be improving.
