Ramiz addressed the global cricketing community's concerns regarding Imran’s health.
Former PCB chief Ramiz Raja revealed that legendary all-rounder Imran Khan remains in solitary isolation in a Pakistan Jail but is "holding up" physically due to his strong temperament.
Speaking on The Overlap Cricket's Stick to Cricket podcast, Ramiz addressed the global cricketing community's concerns regarding Imran’s health.
Raja mentioned that a medical issue regarding Khan's eye was resolved a week ago. He described the World Cup-winning captain’s general state as stable given the circumstances.
"He is in isolation. He's got a lot of fans, but it's just that the poor guy has been behind bars for three years now. It's been a tough one for him," Ramiz said.
"Just a week back, there was some problem with his eye that seems to have been sorted, but otherwise, he's holding up. I mean, he's got a solid temperament, as we all know," he added.
Raja’s comment follows an urgent global petition addressed to Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif. The letter, signed by 22 former international captains—including Indian greats Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar—demanded immediate, adequate medical care and humane treatment for Khan.
"Pakistan's Supreme Court ordered that Imran Khan be transferred to hospital for examination by a medical board that was to include his own personal physicians and his sister, Dr Uzma Khan," the letter stated, as quoted by Cricinfo.
"The Court also reinstated weekly family visits. These were very welcome steps. Concerningly, Mr Khan's hospital stay lasted only a few hours. He was examined by a state-appointed team rather than the board the Court had directed, declared "medically fit," and returned to Adiala Jail before that board could complete its work," it added.
