Harry Brook was banned from IPL for two years after he pulled out of IPL 2025 despite getting picked in auction.
England white-ball captain Harry Brook has made a U-turn on his prospects of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), weeks after stating that he would like to prioritize only national cricket and the Hundred.
While that was still the case, Brook stated on Thursday that the IPL is a "great competition" that helps athletes improve. He went on to say that he would "definitely think about" entering the ring again in the future.
According to BCCI regulations, Brook was barred from the IPL until 2027 for withdrawing from the 2025 season after being picked in the auction. The former Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman has been singing a patriotic song since taking over as captain of England.
As recently as last month, he declared that he had "committed completely to England cricket" and that he didn't want to "play any franchise cricket barring the Hundred."
“Who knows what the future holds, but yeah, and as I said, I’m completely focused on playing as much cricket as I possibly can for England, and that is my one and only priority at the moment. Yeah, definitely. The IPL is a great competition, and it’s a great experience, and you go over there, you leave a better player. It’s a very good competition to be a part of, and it’s something that I’ll definitely think about in the future," Brook told Cricinfo on the sidelines of the 2026 season of the Hundred.
Brook continues to play for Sunrisers in the Hundred competition, as the SRH owners took over the ownership of Northern Superchargers and renamed it Sunrisers Leeds.
“Well, it’s always going to be a little bit of change, obviously, with new owners, and there’s a lot more orange around the ground now, as seen with the range Army. But it’s the same with every franchise, really. You try and get to know everybody as quickly as you possibly can, build some bonds, and yeah, at the end of the day, we’re all here to try and win a few games of cricket,” Brook added.
Brook has made 206 runs for Sunrisers Leeds in 8 games in the Men’s Hundred 2026 tournament.
