Ishan Kishan will captain East Zone in Duleep Trophy 2026-27.
Ishan Kishan received the RBI posting through the sports quota at the Patna branch and joined duties, as he was not named in the Indian squad for the two-Test series in Sri Lanka. Kishan is likely to attend his official duties only for a temporary period before he returns to playing competitive cricket.
Ishan Kishan has participated in all formats since making his India debut in 2021. He scored 78 runs in two Test matches, then 1107 runs at an average of 42.57 in 32 ODIs, with two hundreds and seven half-centuries, including a double hundred.
He has amassed 1608 runs at a strike rate of 146.31 and an average of 29.77 in 55 Twenty20 Internationals, including a hundred and twelve half-centuries.
Ishan Kishan was also named captain of the East Zone in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2026-27 tournament. East Zone will play North East Zone in the quarterfinal at the BCCI COE Ground 2 in Bengaluru on Sunday, August 23. Young star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be Kishan’s deputy in the tournament.
Kishan has played 64 FC matches, scoring 3893 runs at an average of 39.72 with nine centuries and 19 half-centuries.
The left-hander, who hasn't played Tests since 2023, will be keen to demonstrate his value in the forthcoming Duleep Trophy to make a comeback to India whites.
