Langer is currently in UK, coaching the Manchester Super Giants franchise in the Hundred.
Since Brendon McCullum's removal as head coach of England's Test team earlier this month, Langer, who coached Australia from 2018 to 2022, has been strongly connected to the position.
Additionally, he has been close to ECB CEO Richard Gould since the late 2000s, when they were both Somerset's captain and CEO, respectively. However, Langer has disclosed that he is not one of the candidates whom England's managing director, Rob Key, has contacted in recent weeks.
"No, I haven't, no. No, I haven't heard from anyone. You read all this [speculation]... It's all paper talk; it's all rumors," Langer told the Stick to Cricket podcast when being asked if he had been contacted by anyone at the ECB.
Langer has cast doubt on the idea that he could ever coach England.
"There are three coaching roles in the world as a coach [that anyone would consider]: the Australian head coach, the Indian head coach, and the English head coach. But it's all hypothetical, isn't it? When it comes to coaching, it's a career, and everyone looks at all opportunities, don't they?” Langer said on the podcast.
Andy Flower, the early front-runner for the position, pulled himself out of contention earlier this month, stating that he was "very happy" with his present roles with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and London Spirit.
Langer predicted that whoever takes charge will have "teething issues" while working with McCullum, who will remain as white-ball coach as England returns to a split coaching structure, and that it would be critical for them to surround themselves with "the right people" in their support staff.
"I've got no idea. They're going to have to work really well with Baz, and they've got to be really clear in their vision. Great leaders, you've got to be really clear in your vision and what you stand for, and then you go forward from there,” Langer added.
Langer is currently in England as the head coach of the Manchester Super Giants team in the Hundred. The MSG side has done well, with two wins from three matches.
