The appointment marked his return to the organization after two years.
Ryan ten Doeschate has been appointed Head of Cricket Strategy at Knight Riders Sports, following his departure as the Indian men's team assistant coach.
The appointment marked his return to the organization, where he will be responsible for overseeing cricket operations across the franchise's growing global network.
In this role, ten Doeschate will lead the strategic direction of scouting, player recruitment, squad planning, and performance evaluation across all Knight Riders franchises. He will also collaborate with coaches to build a uniform approach across the network.
Moreover, the Dutchman will serve as assistant coach for the Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20), and Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC).
"We are delighted to welcome Tendo back to the Knight Riders family. His deep understanding of our philosophy, combined with his experience across franchise and international cricket, makes him ideally suited for this role. He will help shape the next phase of growth across the Knight Riders ecosystem," Venky Mysore, CEO of Knight Riders Sports, said.
Ten Doeschate also expressed his excitement over the prospect of working across multiple franchises and build long-term cricket structures.
"I'm excited to be back with the Knight Riders in this role. This is a unique opportunity to work with the coaching & analytics teams across our global franchises to strengthen our scouting/player development systems, and to build a long-term cricket strategy."
Earlier, Ryan ten Doeschate stepped down as India's men's assistant coach following the conclusion of the white-ball series in England, according to a report in Cricinfo.
The former Netherlands cricketer reportedly informed the BCCI about his decision during the UK tour, where India lost both the T20I and ODI series.
During his two-year stint, the Indian team experienced a mixture of historic white-ball successes and severe challenges in the longest format of the game.
Ten Doeschate was part of the Gautam Gambhir-led coaching staff that helped the team win the Champions Trophy and Asia Cup in 2025 and successfully defend the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup title.
However, his tenure coincided with a difficult transition period for India's Test squad. The team surrendered the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia and suffered home Test series whitewashes against New Zealand (3-0) and South Africa (2-0).
