Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story is the name of Sourav Ganguly's biopic.
The makers of the biopic of legendary Indian captain and ex-BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly unveiled the poster of the movie in which talented actor Rajkummar Rao plays the role of the former cricketer. The unveiling took place on July 8, which is also Sourav Ganguly’s birthday, as ‘Dada’ turned 54.
Sourav Ganguly is among the most prosperous Indian captains. He achieved a 49.74 victory % while leading India in 195 games across all formats. The Men in Blue finished runners-up in the 2000 ICC Champions Trophy and the 2003 ODI World Cup while he was captain. India were also the joint winners of the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy.
Ganguly played 113 Tests, scoring 7212 runs at an average of 42.12 with 16 hundreds and a best score of 239. Ganguly appeared in 311 ODI matches, scoring 11363 runs at an average of 41.02 with a best score of 183 and 22 centuries to his name.
As Luv Films unveiled the first glimpse of the former India captain's biography, Rajkummar Rao emulated Sourav Ganguly's famous shirtless celebration. On Ganguly's 54th birthday, the film's first poster was unveiled by the producers.
In the biographical film "Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story," Rajkummar will play the renowned cricket player. The first image showed Ganguly's well-known shirtless celebration after India successfully chased a 325-run target against England on July 13, 2002, in the NatWest Series final at Lord's.
Sourav Ganguly shared the first look of the movie on his social media accounts with the caption: “The Best Gift Ever! Can’t wait to see you play my cover drive! #RajkummarRao.”
The biopic of Ganguly will be released on May 14, 2027. Expert director Vikramaditya Motwane, who has previously directed critically praised films like Bhavesh Joshi, Trapped, and Lootera, is in charge of the movie.
Rajkummar Rao acknowledged that he was anxious about playing Sourav Ganguly in the movie. He said that playing the part of the renowned cricket player was a significant responsibility.
