Brook already leads England's ODI and T20 sides.
Harry Brook is ready and willing to captain England across all three formats, calling it a "privilege" to potentially succeed Ben Stokes in Tests.
Brook already leads England's ODI and T20 sides and served as Stokes's Test vice-captain. He is now all set to take over the reins of the Test team as well.
Stokes officially retired from international cricket following the conclusion of the third Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge on Monday (June 29), opening up the Test captaincy role.
“It’d be a privilege to do it, to captain England in the highest format of our game,” Brook said. “It’s the pinnacle — playing test cricket is the greatest thing that I’ve ever done in my life and it’s a dream, something that I’ve always wanted to do since I could speak.
“It’s not up to me, that decision. But if I got offered it, then I’d be happy to take it.”
Brook is confident of managing the busy schedule, citing that he wants to commit completely to international cricket. The 27-year-old even expressed that he is happy to skip franchise leagues like the IPL and PSL to focus entirely on playing for England.
“I’ve said that I don’t want to play any franchise cricket, bar The Hundred, and everything that I want to do is to play cricket for England. And whatever I do on and off the field is to try and perform as well as I possibly can for England.
“Hence the reason I don’t play in the IPL and PSL and all the other franchise competitions.”
