Bhopal's Ratibad Police have officially registered an FIR against Punjab Kings (PBKS) cricketer Shashank Singh and his father Shailesh Singh (a retired Special DG of Police) following allegations of assault made by their domestic cook.

According to news agency IANS, the FIR names Shashank, Shailesh and their driver, identified as Mishra, as accused. A case has been filed under Sections 296(B), 115(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation has been initiated.

The complainant has been identified as Vipendra Singh Tomar, a native of Rewa district. He was recently hired to work at the family's bungalow in Neelbad.

Tomar claimed that he was promised a monthly salary of Rs 15,000, free food and accommodation.

“I agreed to work there and stayed at the residence after being assured of salary, food and lodging,” the complainant said in his written complaint.

Tomar further alleged that his mobile phone was confiscated over the quality of his cooking. “On June 28, after preparing breakfast, I asked Shailesh Singh to return my mobile phone, but he refused. Upset over this, I went to my room,” he told police.

He added, “Shailesh Singh, his son Shashank Singh and their driver entered my room, abused me and started assaulting me with their hands and fists. After beating me, they forced me out of the house.”

Moreover, they allegedly transferred Rs 1,000 from the complainant’s mobile phone to cover his short-term living expenses.

“After the incident, I came to the police station with my relatives to lodge a complaint and seek legal action,” Tomar said in his statement.

Police are continuing their active investigation. IANS received no response upon reaching out to the retired IPS officer Shailesh Singh.

Shashank Singh remains a key player for Punjab Kings, after being retained to handle middle-order finishing duties. He became a household name during IPL 2024 by scoring 354 runs at a strike rate of over 164.
