Rodrigues made 127* runs as India chased down 338 runs in a record chase.
Jemimah Rodrigues revealed how strong advice from the legendary Sachin Tendulkar helped her stay grounded during the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Rodrigues had played a match-winning innings against the Australian women in the semi-final of the tournament, scoring 127* runs and helping India achieve a record chase.
Phoebe Litchfield’s 119 and Ellyse Perry’s 77, along with Ashleigh Gardner’s 63, took Australia to 338 runs. In response, Jemimah made an unbeaten 127 runs and got support from Harmanpreet Kaur (89) as India won the game by 5 wickets, achieving a world record World Cup chase.
Jemimah revealed that the excitement and attention that followed left her emotionally overwhelmed and recalled how a message by Sachin Tendulkar via her coach, Prashant Shetty, kept her grounded and focused.
"Sachin sir called my coach, Prashant Shetty. He asked him to tell me that he understood the past couple of days had been a lot for me, including the big knock against Australia in the semifinal and the joy of beating them. He said, 'Try to put that aside and start from zero.' That message really helped me reset my mind,” Rodrigues said on JioStar.
Rodrigues said the advice changed her mindset before the final, adding, "I understood that what you did before does not win you the next game. You must treat every match as a new start. That advice from a legend gave me so much clarity before the final."
The defending ODI world champions are now preparing for their opening match against Pakistan on June 14 in the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Birmingham.
