Bangladesh created history on Tuesday (June 9) by securing their first-ever home ODI victory against Australia. The hosts defeated the visitors by 86 runs via the DLS method at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, marking only their second ODI win over Australia.

After Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first, Bangladesh posted a strong total of 284/8 in their 50 overs. An unbeaten 86 off 70 balls from Mosaddek Hossain anchored the innings, supported by half-centuries from Tanzid Hasan (54 off 44) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (67 off 86).

During the run chase, persistent showers forced the target to be continuously revised. Despite contributions from Cameron Green (52*), Alex Carey (47) and Cooper Connolly (35), the Australian batters struggled to score freely and fell well behind the required run rate.

Nahid Rana was the standout bowler for Bangladesh with four wickets, supported by Mustafizur Rahman (2-24) and Mosaddek (2-37).

The highlight of the chase came when Rana dismissed stand-in Australian captain Josh Inglis, resulting in an animated exchange between the two as the speedster celebrated in sheer ecstasy.

Nahid Rana bowled a sharp, high-pace delivery that gained extra bounce. Inglis attempted a drive but managed only an edge, resulting in a clean catch by wicketkeeper Litton Das.

Fueled by adrenaline, Nahid gave the departing skipper an aggressive send-off. Inglis took exception to the verbal barbs and stopped to confront the young fast bowler as he walked toward the pavilion.

Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz rushed in quickly to separate the two players and defuse the tension.
