Nepal had a winning start to their 2026 Asian Games Men’s T20I Qualifier tournament, as they defeated China at the Singapore National Cricket Ground in Singapore on May 31, 2026. China captain Tian Senquen won the toss and chose to field first.

However, the much-experienced Nepal batters took the Chinese bowlers to cleaners and opener Kushal Bhurtel led the way with a scintillating 129 runs in 43 balls with 5 fours and 16 sixes. Kushal Malla (85*) and Rohit Paudel (69*) also made merry, as Nepal posted 313/2 in 20 overs.

In response, China was bowled out for 92 runs as Kushal Malla took 3 wickets, while Sandeep Lamichhane and Sompal Kami took two wickets each.

Bhurtel hit six straight sixes in his over after taking a shine to China's Chen Zhuo Yue throughout his innings. Chen let up 37 runs, plus an extra by wide, making it the second most costly over bowled in the history of international cricket. Bhurtel is the fifth batter in men’s T20Is to hit six successive sixes in an over.
