Yuvraj expressed confidence that Pant will turn his fortunes around.
After joining LSG for a record sum of INR 27 crore, the wicketkeeper-batter failed to leave a mark in the 2025 season, scoring only 269 runs in 13 innings at an average of 24.45 and a strike rate of 133.17.
The southpaw managed only 7 runs off 9 balls and suffered a freak run-out in LSG's IPL 2026 opener against Delhi Capitals (DC).
Yuvraj, having fought his own battle with cancer, stated he can relate to the mental and physical hardships Pant has faced following the life-threatening car accident.
“There are lot of opinions about him. Rishabh Pant has gone through a life-threatening experience, and I’ve been through something similar myself, so I can relate to what he’s feeling,” Yuvraj said in a recent appearance on the Sports Tak Podcast.
Yuvraj acknowledged that multiple injuries in the last two years, including a side strain and foot fracture, have significantly affected Pant's rhythm and confidence.
“It’s very difficult for people to understand the mental space he is in right now. The last couple of years have been very tough for him with multiple injuries a side strain and a foot fracture which have affected his rhythm and confidence," he stated.
Despite the challenges, Yuvraj expressed confidence that Pant will turn his fortunes around, highlighting his eagerness to improve, especially in white-ball cricket.
“Like any player, he knows he has made some mistakes, and now he feels he can do better. He is eager to improve, especially in white-ball cricket."
“I wouldn’t like share personal details, as our conversations have been very private, particularly regarding the setbacks and life," he remarked.
