Arjun also opened up on his move from MI to LSG for the IPL 2026 season.
Arjun is representing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing IPL season. After an underwhelming stint with Mumbai Indians (MI), he was traded to LSG in the off-season, with Shardul Thakur moving the other way.
During a recent appearance on the Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube podcast, Arjun was asked whether he feels pressure of carrying the Tendulkar legacy.
In reply, the 26-year-old emphasized that his focus remains on the process of working hard and enjoying the game rather than the "weight of expectations" or outside noise.
"There are comparisons. I want to know as a human being—but only if you're comfortable—because I always try to put myself in your shoes. When a big name is associated with you, it is obviously a blessing, but there are also challenges. So, how do you deal with it mentally? When you perform well, there will be comparisons, even though you haven't chosen them," Mishra asked.
"I play cricket for my passion, and not to prove anything to anyone. I just focus on the process of working hard and enjoying my game," Arjun responded.
Arjun Tendulkar's IPL journey, starting with MI in 2021, has been characterized by patience and limited opportunities, with his debut arriving in 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium against KKR. After injuries in 2021 and appearing in four matches for three wickets in 2023, he played just one game in 2024.
Regarding his move from MI to LSG, Arjun candidly admitted that "no one wants to sit on the bench" and expressed a desire for more playing opportunities.
"Who doesn't feel that? No one wants to sit on the bench. But we want to work hard and perform when we get a chance," he remarked while speaking on the same podcast.
