Hardik Pandya will lead MI when they face KKR in their IPL 2026 opener on March 29.
Pandya trained late into the night at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium in preparation for the T20 World Cup, frequently until nearly midnight. He had promised the ground crew that they would be rewarded when he returned for their unwavering support during that phase.
Now, Pandya has fulfilled his promise. On Thursday, the Indian all-rounder thanked the MCA ground crew at Wankhede for supporting him during his difficult training. His act was noteworthy because it served as a reminder of the ground staff's frequently overlooked contributions to a cricket player's journey.
By keeping his word, Pandya not only expressed gratitude but also strengthened his reputation as someone who appreciates those who work behind the scenes.
Pandya has been on a high in his career as he helped India win the T20 World Cup 2026, and now, as a two-time T20 World Cup winner, the all-rounder has aimed higher.
Speaking about his personal life and motivation after the recent T20 World Cup win, the Baroda cricketer said, “Jab se Mahieka aayi hai, life mein bas jeet hi jeet hai. (Since Mahieka came into my life, it’s been nothing but wins)."
“I have 10 more years left in me, and I want to win 10 more ICC titles. That's my goal,” he said.
Pandya will lead MI when they face KKR in their first IPL 2026 match on Sunday, March 29, in Wankhede, Mumbai.
