Sui Northern failed to chase 40 runs, getting bowled out for 37 runs.
The previous record had stood since 1794, when Oldfield successfully defended 41 against MCC at Lord's Old Ground, winning by six runs.
In Karachi, defending 40, PTV bowled SNGPL, led by current Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood, out for 37 to secure a thrilling two-run victory.
PTV, captained by Shamyl Hussain, had scored 166 and 111 in two innings, while SNGPL, led by Shan Masood, appeared to be in complete control after scoring 238 in the first. This gave PTV a small 39-run advantage, with SNGPL anticipated to easily chase down the target.
However, SNGPL experienced a spectacular collapse in the second innings. The top five batters combined to score only 13 runs, indicating a poor performance. Saifullah Bangash top-scored with 14 runs and was the only batter to reach double figures, demonstrating how difficult the circumstances became.
Ali Usman, a left-arm spinner, was PTV's star with the ball. After taking four wickets in the first innings, he featured by grabbing six wickets for only nine runs in the second innings. Amad Butt, a fast bowler, was also crucial, taking four wickets in the second innings by giving up 28 runs in ten overs.
With the victory, SNGPL dropped to third in the President’s Trophy points table, while PTV moved up to second. SNGPL has won two and lost two of their four games, while PTV has already won three. The top two teams will advance straight to the February 12 final.
