Yashasvi Jaiswal had been out of action due to acute gastroenteritis.
Jaiswal, who turns 24 on Sunday, missed Mumbai's opening two matches in Jaipur due to his recovery from acute gastroenteritis, for which he was hospitalized during Mumbai's last Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League match against Rajasthan, and doctors prescribed him a week off.
With experienced India opener Rohit Sharma opening the batting for Mumbai in the first two matches of the competition, Jaiswal is now poised to replace him in the lineup, beginning with the game against Goa on New Year's Eve at the Anantam Ground.
"Yashaswi will play in the game against Goa, which is the one happening on December 31. He will be joining the team either on 29th evening or 30th morning," Khanvilkar told IANS on Sunday.
Jaiswal is anticipated to play additional matches for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, but his availability will be determined by India's team selection for the three-game ODI series against New Zealand, which begins in Vadodara on January 11.
Yashasvi Jaiswal had recently made his maiden ODI century, which came in the series decider between India and South Africa in Vishakhapatnam, scoring 116* to help India to an easy win.
