Sooryavanshi smoked 190 runs with 16 fours and 15 sixes as Bihar made 574/6 in VHT 2025.
Playing against Arunachal Pradesh, Sooryavanshi hammered 190 runs in just 84 balls with 16 fours and 15 sixes to his name.
He was in amazing form, as his century came off just 36 balls, and he became the youngest to score a century in List-A cricket. Bihar, thanks to Sooryavanshi and centuries by Ayush Loharuka (118) and Captain Sakibul Gani (128* in 40 balls), posted the highest List-A team total of 574/6 in 50 overs.
Arunachal Pradesh was bowled out for 177 runs thanks to three wickets each by Akash Raj and Suraj Kashyap. Bihar won the game by a record 397 runs.
Former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has questioned the caliber of some of the nation's domestic teams, saying that although it was impressive to see players like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi score large runs, it could undermine the opposition's confidence.
The 39-year-old claimed that there was no match between teams in first-class cricket because of a significant gap between some of the teams.
“Huge applause for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. But I again want to ask a question. There is a huge divide, chalk and cheese, in terms of quality with some teams. It becomes very lopsided with some teams, and there is no contest at all. It is not an ideal contest. Credit to Vaibhav for his performance. He is doing what he has to do. But if we are serious about teams like Arunachal Pradesh becoming good sides, what will this do to their confidence?” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
Ashwin also praised wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan for his performance against Karnataka on Wednesday, stating that the hard work put in was bearing fruit. Kishan smoked a 49-ball century for Jharkhand in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy against Haryana. He captained Jharkhand to their maiden SMAT win as well.
This led to Ishan Kishan being named in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 tournament, marking his return to the Men in Blue side for the first time since December 2023.
“Everyone goes through good and bad times, but Ishan Kishan had a challenging time. He came and then was out from the team; he took a break. He made a double hundred in one day but never made a comeback. He scored a hundred in the IPL, but then did not have a great IPL. He played well in the SMAT and, in the run of events, got into the T20 World Cup squad. Now he is batting in the middle-order slot in the VHT and scored a 33-ball hundred. It shows what confidence and form can do to a person when time aligns. He has not waited, saying his time will come; he has put in that effort,” he said.
