The meeting is likely to take place in Raipur before the second ODI between India and South Africa.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has organized a meeting with the men's team management to lay out a strategy across formats and improve communication among key stakeholders. The meeting will take place on Wednesday in Raipur, ahead of India's second ODI against South Africa.
Sportstar has reported that the meeting will likely include BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and national selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar.
It is unknown if BCCI President Mithun Manhas would attend. With the meeting scheduled for match day, the chances of senior players being brought in appear slim.
A top BCCI official acknowledged that the purpose of the discussion was to ensure coherence between selectors and team management in order to maintain selection consistency, improve individual growth routes, and improve overall team performance.
The official also acknowledged concerns over communication gaps between the management and senior limited-overs players.
“During the home test season, there have been instances of confusing tactics on and off the field. We want clarity and forward planning, especially with the next test series eight months away.
India will be the favorites to defend the T20 World Cup next year and strong contenders for the ODI World Cup after that, so we want these issues resolved quickly,” the official told Sportstar.
The report further stated that while no particular names were mentioned, the situation indicated the slowing communication between management and senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Since declaring their retirement from T20Is last year and their departure from Test cricket earlier in 2025, murmurs of limited dialogue between the duo and the current setup have gotten louder with each passing month.
