The hearings were conducted by ICC match referees after IND v PAK Asia Cup 2025 controversies.
Members of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees conducted the hearings following occurrences in India's matches against Pakistan on September 14, 21, and 28.
The ICC had previously published the ruling for the September 14 group-stage match, in which India captain Suryakumar Yadav was fined 30% of his match fee and given two demerit points for statements referencing the India-Pakistan border conflict during the post-match presentation.
Suryakumar was found guilty of violating Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses conduct that brings the game into disrepute.
Pakistan players Sahibzada Farhan and pacer Haris Rauf faced disciplinary hearings for their conduct during the Super Four clash against India on September 21.
Farhan, who scored a fifty and celebrated by making a gun gesture, received an official warning and one demerit point. Haris was fined 30 percent of his match fee, resulting in two demerit points for his 'jet crashing' gesture, which was caught on camera multiple times during the match.
However, India’s Arshdeep Singh escaped any punishment for making a similar gesture, and the PCB had even complained to him after the Super Four match.
But the ICC match referee Andy Pycroft’s hearing resulted in a ‘not guilty’ verdict, as the pacer didn’t violate Article 2.6, which pertains to using a gesture that is obscene, offensive, or insulting, and therefore no sanction was imposed.
Jasprit Bumrah was found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct and was handed one demerit point. Since Bumrah accepted the sanction, no formal hearing was required.
Rauf, on the other hand, drew ire from the ICC for replicating his contentious gesture in the final after taking a catch to remove Abhishek Sharma off Faheem Ashraf. He was penalized 30% of his match fee.
Rauf also received two further demerit points, raising his total to four within 24 months, resulting in two suspension points under the ICC's disciplinary framework. As a result, Rauf has been suspended for Pakistan's next one-day international matches against South Africa on November 4 and 6.
