CSK defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure their third IPL title under Dhoni's captaincy.
The day Chennai Super Kings (CSK) waited for was finally here. Their team came back home with the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy.
The Chennai crowd were unlucky to watch just one game at home after misdeed of Cauvery water dispute protesters forced IPL committee to shift the venue to Pune. But that didn't stop them from cheering for the men in yellow.
A special train, 'Whistle Podu express' was arranged from Chennai to Pune just for the CSK supporters before match days. Fans turned out in huge numbers which showed how passionate they were to watch Super Kings play.
After the IPL title win, MS Dhoni and co visited the home of CSK with the trophy. It was a special moment for the fans who lived the dream along with players. Team CSK was greeted by the former BCCI president N Srinivasan at the hotel. The players had to attend a private dinner later at night.
The Super Kings officials, including CEO K S Viswanathan, took the trophy to the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams Information Centre temple in the city. The trophy was placed before the idol of Lord Venkateswara.
There were a large number of fans were waiting at the city airport to welcome the team members. The exaltation when players came out was amazing.
